Key skills

  • Collection, primary and secondary processing and consolidation of materials in field in-situ conditions; interpretation of evaluation research findings and paleoclimatic reconstructions
  • Assessment and development planning for the economic performance of the polar regions; ability to assess population health
  • Ability to conduct hydroecological examination of the design and construction of industrial, agricultural and other facilities
  • Readiness for participation in the development of hydrodynamic models of general atmospheric circulation (AGCM) and climate
  • Readiness for studying changes in the parameters and environmental factors that affect the development of global climate
  • Ability to assess the stability of terrestrial and aquatic geosystems, to apply the concepts and models of sustainable development in natural resource management

Career opportunities

The programme aims to train specialists who are well-placed to conduct independent theoretical and applied research in environmental, hydrometeorological, paleogeographic, landscape, pedological and geoenvironmental properties and processes of polar regions of the Earth (the Arctic, the Antarctic and mountainous regions).
