  • Training involves an in-depth study of theories that reveal social phenomena, and processes and relationships at various levels of the modern social system. Special attention is paid to: the analysis of social changes, communications and institutions in socio-economic, socio-political and socio-cultural systems; and the study of social structures, social groups, social relations, and social consciousness;
  • Students can carry out comprehensive applied sociological research at the Sociological Clinic. This includes the advanced technological capabilities of the Resource Centre for Sociological and Internet Research at St Petersburg University;
  • Doctoral students gain teaching experience through teaching internships;
  • Graduates of the programme are ready for: a reasonable assessment of social problems; and the implementation of effective managerial influences on the social sphere in various types of social systems.
