Unrivalled in other universities of Russia, "Culture and art in Hungary" is a unique interdisciplinary programme of St Petersburg University aimed at training masters in cultural studies.
The new master's programme has resulted from the cooperation agreement between St Petersburg University and the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations and Foreign Affairs of Hungary.
"Hungary's centuries-old path of cultural development is a wonderful example of acquiring and preserving its identity, its "intonation", that even today, in the period of an almost total oblivion of its own origins, is not lost but is preserved and creatively developed," said Professor Evgeny Sokolov, Programme Director.
Students are offered unique individually developed courses created by SPbU philologists, culturologists, philosophers and regional ethnographers. A wide range of knowledge, from the history of the settlement of Hungarian tribes to the present-day cinematography, will allow graduates to become demanded specialists in a number of fields including tourism. For this purpose, the programme contains an educational module devoted to the recreational resources of Hungary: its resorts, museums, and monuments.
The students will also have an internship abroad: St Petersburg University closely cooperates with Eötvös Loránd University and Corvinus University of Budapest.
