According to the Transparent Ranking: Top Universities by Google Scholar Citations published in July 14 SPBU made a real breakthrough and jumped over a thousand places to the 189th.
In 2016, Webometrics Ranking of World Universities has introduced research transparency and openness of the universities in the Transparent Ranking, which feature five thousand universities.
The methodology uses the institutional profiles and individual profiles of the authors in the Google Scholar Citations. The position of the university in the ranking is defined by the number of citations of its scientists and scholars.
In the end of 2016 — early 2017, ST Petersburg University was ranked 1,242. However, the last six months have seen a real breakthrough — the University has jumped a thousand places to the 189.
In the Russian block, the University is followed after Novosibirsk State University (58th place), well ahead of MSU (679th place), High School of Economics (600th place), ITMO University (841th place) and other universities in Russia.
This breakthrough reflects SPbU’s principle of openness in education, research, and management. Openness and transparence are overarching priorities of the Strategic Plan 2020.
