In 2018/19 academic year, SPbU will open 29 master’s programmes, one of them is Business Management in Digital Economics to educate and prepare specialists to adapt business for a digital world.

The professional competences the students can gain pursuing the new interdisciplinary programme are identified by SPbU’s partner employers and academic staff, including the directors of the programme Professor Igor and Arenkov and Associate Professors Tatiana Lezina and Maria Tsenzharik.

“However, we have acquainted with the experience of our foreign partners and come to a conclusion that those who are going to work in management should be primarily taught how to build business models and set the right tasks for the IT specialists and software developers», — said Igor Arenkov.

Business Management in Digital Economics educates and prepares high-calibre specialists in economics, management, information technologies to work in companies that are striving to use digital technologies in business.

It primarily focuses on how companies can use digital technologies and modeling in business.

“We have followed an example of the I-Business: Bosch I-Business, iBusiness Banking, I-Commerce Uber Technologies Inc.,, Sportmaster, Taxovichkof, and others”, — said Tatiana Lezina.

The curricular focuses on the project that should be implemented by the groups of three students. The students can choose what their projects will focus on or can solve the task the employers suggested. “The students, after they have completed a course, should prepare a part of the project. For example, after they complete the course in marketing, they should prepare a part that discusses the marketing aspects of their project and defend a presentation in the class”, — said Tatiana Lezina.

Developing the ability to think clearly and rationally is not an only competitive advantage the students gain pursuing the programme. It includes a number of workshops from the Russia’s leading innovations companies that collaborate with the University.
