St Petersburg University keeps its positions in the Times Higher Education (THE) World Reputation Rankings 2020 and is ranked in the 126–150 group among the world top universities.
The THE World Reputation Ranking is compiled based on two main criteria: the quality of education (Teaching) and the quality of scientific research (Research). Higher education institutions are given points by representatives of the academic community: this year more than 11,000 scientists from 132 countries took part in the survey.
It should be noted that the compilers of the ranking for the first time openly published not only the first 100 but also the world top 200 universities. St Petersburg University ends up in the same group with such large universities as: Mayo Medical School (USA); the University of Tübingen (Germany); Erasmus University Rotterdam (Netherlands); the University of Montreal (Canada); and other world-class educational institutions.
Based on surveys of the academic community, the THE World Reputation Rankings were first published in 2011. In addition to them, Times Higher Education publishes many other rankings. These include: subject rankings of universities; impact rankings; as well as the THE World University Rankings.
