QS-2016: St Petersburg University once again listed among the world top 300 universities
The results of the most prestigious university ranking by Quacquarelli Symonds were announced today, on the 6th of September. The two Russian leading universities possessing the special status, Moscow State University and St Petersburg State University, are once again at the top of the Russian block in ranking.
SPBU steadily demonstrates excellent performance in categories Academic reputation and Employer reputation. In 2016 SPBU was once again listed among the world top 300 universities having the highest profile among world-renowned scientists and lecturers. This was achieved due to the great work of scientific teams in different fields.
According to the QS World University Ranking by Subject β 2016 SPBU made a real breakthrough and was listed 26th in the newly introduced subject Mineral and Mining Engineering. Moreover, Saint Petersburg University was ranked among 101-150 (151-200 in 2015) in the subject History and moved to a position in the group 201-250 (251-300 in 2015) in the subject Chemistry. SPBU also improved significantly in the field of informatics and information systems. SPBU was for the first time ranked in the subjects Politics and International Studies and Economics and Econometrics, acquiring a position in the group 151-200, meanwhile in the subject Philosophy it was placed in the group 101-150.
Reference: QS ranking uses a formalised scheme that takes into consideration the following indicators: academic reputation (40% of overall score), citations per faculty (20%), student-to-faculty ratio (20%), employer reputation (10%), international staff ratio (5%) and international student ratio among students enrolled on main educational programmes (5%).
