St Petersburg University enters the top 35 of the best world universities in the international ranking "The Three University Missions"
St Petersburg University has been ranked 35th among the world’s top universities according to the Moscow International University Ranking ‘The Three University Missions’(MosIUR), having improved its position compared to the results of the previous year. St Petersburg University has become the best Russian university, second only to Lomonosov Moscow State University, and has taken first place among St Petersburg universities.
The Moscow International University Ranking ‘The Three University Missions’ is one of the largest world university rankings. Despite the annual increase in the number of participants, St Petersburg University regularly improves its position. This year, the ranking includes 1,800 universities from 103 countries, including 146 Russian higher education institutions. Traditionally, Lomonosov Moscow State University and St Petersburg University are top-ranked among Russian universities.
The Moscow International University Ranking evaluates all three key university missions: educational; research; and social.
The ranking methodology passed a large-scale public discussion, in which over 100 universities around the world took part. When compiling the ranking, objective criteria and information from independent international sources are used, including top-rated online mass education platforms, global search engines, the public multilingual online encyclopaedia Wikipedia, social networks, and websites of international student Olympiads to name just a few. The Three University Missions’ ranking has been published by the Russian Union of Rectors since 2017 as directed by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
