SPb Legal Run 2017: Run, Smile, Help
S.M. Kirov Central Park has hosted a major event for the lawyers in St Petersburg – a charitable Legal Run 2017, with St Petersburg University as its official partner.
Each year, we have more and more people willing to take part, as many as 500 participants registered in 2017. Among them are corporate lawyers, many of them are SPbU graduates.
“I am very pleased, as Rector and Professor, that today our inspiration in this run is to run together and help people, rather than run past. I hope that it is the charge the University gave you”, — said SPbU Rector Nikolay Kropachev.
Svetlana Medvedeva, Chairperson of the Fund of Social and Cultural Initiatives, also greeted the runners.
Before the run, you could take your blood pressure in a tent set up by the students and professor in Nursing at SPbU. If you take your blood pressure, you can compare it with the standards adopted in other countries, said SPbU Professor, Doctor of Science (Medicine) Anatolii Zhirkov.
An amateur runner could choose between 5 km and 10 km tracks around the Central Park and along Bolshaia Nevka and Sredniaia Nevka. As last year, the University took the stand. SPbU Associate Professor, Candidate of Law Sergei Belov ran second in 5 km track, as SPbU student Artem Kutlovskii in 10 km track.
All the participants must make charitable donations. The fund “Gift of Life” and organisers gathered 827,000 rubles to provide medical help to seriously ill children.
Those who came with their families could take part in the children’s run for 100 metres for kindergartens and junior schools.
There was also an all-Russian event “Stop HIV/AIDS” on the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial day. You could take an express AIDS test in the mobile laboratories. You could also see posters by SPbU students prepared for the contest of social advertising “Stop HIV/AIDS”.
“The University holds one-off events with Svetlana Medvedeva, Chairperson of the Fund of Social and Cultural Initiatives. Moreover, recent decades have seen extensive research on psycjology and medicine. Our mission is to make everything to gain deep understanding in this sphere”, — said SPbU Rector Nikolay Kropachev.
