SPbU among the best universities for arts and humanities in the THE rankings
St Petersburg has claimed a spot in the 126–150 band in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings' arts and humanities table.
The most exceptional performance SPbU has shown is in citations. With 47.6 scores, SPbU has achieved higher scores leaving behind Moscow University which is number one among the Russia’s universities and at the 51st in the overall rankings.
The rise of SPbU is due to its openness in education and research.
The World University Rankings 2017–2018 use 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators that are grouped into five areas:
- Teaching (the learning environment) (37.4 %)
- Research (volume, income and reputation) (37.6 %)
- Citations (research influence) (15 %)
- International outlook (staff, students and research) (7.5 %)
- Industry income (knowledge transfer) (2.5 %)

- Art, Performing Arts & Design
- Languages, Literature & Linguistics
- History, Philosophy & Theology
- Architecture
- Archaeology
All in all, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018 by subject: arts and humanities has five Russia’s universities, among them is Higher School of Economics (176–200 in the World University Rankings), Tomsk University (201–250 in the World University Rankings), and Kazan University (201–250 in the World University Rankings).
SPbU has also entered in the top 50 in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings. The University is the best in Russia in the student-employer connections, the rankings suggest.
