SPbU and the RF Ministry of Culture Sign Partnership Agreement
The Partnership Agreement between St Petersburg State University and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation was signed today at the Petrovsky Hall of the main University building.
“Among SPbU graduates there are many art professionals; a number of faculties are headed by world-renowned cultural figures such as Valery Gergiev and Mikhail Piotrovsky. We are also linked through joint restoration projects and events of St Petersburg International Cultural Forum. For these reasons the new agreement has a symbolic meaning. We have been involved in collaboration for some time already and our ties are bound to become even stronger,” said Vladimir Medinsky, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation.
SPbU is a center of expertise in culture and art. The provision of expert advice is a major area of collaborative work with the Ministry of Culture. According to Nikolay Kropachev, Rector of SPbU, the University’s experts in culture and art prepare several hundreds of evaluation reports annually. As the Rector noted, SPbU aims to further develop this mutually beneficial arrangement.
The Minister of Culture and the Rector discussed the University’s activities regulated by the RF Ministry of Culture. They are related to creative work, exhibitions, excursions, museums, theatre, history of culture, art criticism, etc. The meeting also focused on possible amendments to the regulations concerning the powers of the University’s founder.
I believe that this solution will contribute to the enrichment and development of Russian culture.
