SPbU student wins IMC 2017, the International Mathematics Competition for University Students
Daniil Klyuev, a student of St Petersburg University, has won the Grand First Prize of the International Mathematics Competition for University Students IMC 2017, while the SPbU team has come second in the team scoring.
The International Mathematics Competition finished on 6 August in the Bulgarian city of Blagoevgrad. SPbU was represented by a team that included students of mathematics Daniil Klyuev, Dmitry Krachun, Stanislav Ershov, Ilya Losev, Budimir Baev and Ignat Sokolov.
The team of St Petersburg University showed very good results and scored 363.83 points, having slightly lost to the national team of Israel. Let us remind you that the previous year SPbU mathematicians were also among the top three IMC winners, and in 2015 they won the competition.
This year's competition was organised by University College London and hosted by the American University in Bulgaria.

The International Mathematics Competition for University Students has been held since 1994 and is one of the most representative competitions in mathematics for students who completed their first, second, third or fourth year of study. Traditionally, the event includes two days of competition, during which participants are invited to solve problems from algebra, analysis (real and complex), geometry and combinatorics. During the 23 years of the competition, students from more than 200 universities from 50 countries of the world have taken part in it.
