SPbU’s graduate is a new Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Russia

President of South Korea Moon Jae-in has appointed SPbU’s 2006-graduate Woo Yoon-keun as a new Ambassador in the Russian Federation.
Up till now, Woo Yoon-keun, Master of Political Science, was Secretary General of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea. After graduating alma mater, he has been actively engaged in the life of the University. In December 2016, SPbU’s Rector Nikolay Kropachev and Woo Yoon-keun signed a memorandum of collaboration between St Petersburg University and Secretariat of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, which fosters academic exchange of the academic staff and students, ensures joint events, and share experience and information.
With the support of our Korean colleagues, we are planning to develop the Institute of Interdisciplinary Research of Korea at SPbU and make it national.
SPbU’s Rector Nikolay Kropachev
The Korean politician delivered a lecture to our students and told about prospects for Russia-Korea relationship development. Besides, he agreed to become SPbU’s Professor. To deliver lectures at SPbU is a great privilege for him, he says, and after his political career comes to an end, he will delve into teaching.
Woo Yoon-keun is a member of the SPbU’s Alumni Association, which brings together thousands of its graduates globally.
