St Petersburg University signs cooperation agreements with organisations of the Republic of Belarus

  • >

The delegation of St Petersburg University has visited the Centre for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the State Literary Museum of Yanka Kupala, and Minsk Centralised System of State Public Libraries to sign cooperation agreements.

During the visit, Deputy Rector for International Affairs Sergey Andryushin and Head of Admission Directorate Aleksandr Khurshudian met with representatives of the Russian House in Minsk. The meeting participants discussed issues related to the organisation of admission of citizens of Belarus to the University within the framework of the quota of the Government of the Russian Federation. St Petersburg University has been the most popular Russian university among Belarusian applicants, said Eduard Krustkaln, Head of the representative office of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) in the Republic of Belarus. During the visit to Minsk, the representatives of the University, as part of the Sputnik radio programme, told applicants in detail about the admissions campaign in 2022. In 2022, applicants can use the results of centralised testing for admission to the bachelor’s and specialist’s programmes at St Petersburg University.

Detailed information about admissions to the degree programmes in 2022 is available on the website of the St Petersburg University Admissions Committee.

The University and the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in the Republic of Belarus are actively engaged in developing cooperation and implementing a set of measures to offer a range of opportunities in education and research.

In the 2021/22 academic year, the University, with the support of the Russian House in Minsk, offered Belarusian and Russian schoolchildren an opportunity to take part in the international competition "Literary destinies of Belarus and Russia: from dialogue to understanding". It was dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Yanka Kupala and 130th anniversary of Konstantin Paustovsky. The participants were invited to learn more about the literary heritage of the writers of the two countries and try their hand at preparing research papers. The solemn announcement of the launch of the competition took place as part of the St Petersburg University Day at the Moscow House in Minsk in October 2021. The document was signed by Aleksandr Babich, Senior Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Admissions, and Eduard Krustkaln, Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in the Republic of Belarus.

For the contestants, St Petersburg University held a series of lectures that focused on artistic originality of Yanka Kupala and Konstantin Paustovsky. Links to broadcast recordings are available here.

The Centre for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the State Literary Museum of Yanka Kupala and the State Institution "Minsk Centralised System of State Public Libraries" were actively engaged in providing informational and methodological support for the competition. The Belarusian partner institutions were members of the jury and the appeal commission. St Petersburg University signed cooperation agreements with these organisations in order to continue cooperation in education and research, including the organisation of intellectual contests and educational events.
