THE World University Rankings: SPbU’s continued success

THE World University Rankings 2016–2017

Annually published by the Times Higher Education, THE World University Rankings is one of the three top world’s league tables. The University’s stable ranking position is a sure sign that the way the University is developing is on a par with that of other universities.

“The University’s overarching priority is, equally, to develop educational programmes and to enable opportunities for research on a global scale, for it shapes the University’s policy, and is crucial for the University’s research and academic standing. Since 2010, SPbU has particularly aimed to boost material and technical resources for research. Thus, the University created the Research Park, and can boast unique information resources, which enables opportunities for research, both for staff and students, on a global scale. The University consequently enables career progression and retains high calibre academics and staff”, — said SPbU’s Rector Nikolay Kropachev.

A sure sign that the University has set up a coherent strategy is a positive dynamics across all five of the pillars underlying the ranking: SPbU shows an upward trend in citation accrual by 20 points than last year, which means that the University maintains significance in research, both in volume and reputation. Also, the University has enhanced its performance in teaching and industry income. Last, but not least, a sure sign that the University is an outward-looking institution and attracts international students and scholars is an upward trend in international outlook.
