TASS: President Putin congratulates St Petersburg University and its Rector on their birthday

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has congratulated St Petersburg University and Rector Nikolay Kropachev on their birthday.
‘Today marks two events for one of our colleagues. Rector of St Petersburg University Nikolay Kropachev has a birthday today (8 February is also the Day of Russian Science — note by TASS). Let us congratulate Rector of St Petersburg University Nikolay Kropachev on his birthday. Our most kind wishes. Congratulations,’ said the President at the meeting of the Council for Science and Education. Nikolay Kropachev kindly accepted congratulations and said that this day also marked the day when St Petersburg University was founded.
’Splendid. It means that today also marks two events for me,’ the President said. In 1975, Vladimir Putin graduated from the Department of International Law at the Faculty of Law at Leningrad State University (now St Petersburg University).
Nikolay Kropachev was elected as Rector in 2008. He was appointed as Rector by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation in 2009, which was extended for a further term in 2014 and 2019.
