Programme description
  • The Pharmacy specialist programme covers a broad range of disciplines aimed at training pharmacists The primary goal of the educational programme is to train a skilled professional who can compete in both domestic and foreign labour markets. This professional should be focused on implementing continuing medical education and digital health Attention is given to teaching fundamental disciplines, which helps students develop a broad scientific outlook
  • The Pharmacy programme combines an internship with research work under the supervision of SPbU faculty The Pharmacy educational programme at SPbU equips students with professional competencies of a pharmacist and prepares them to use modern methods and technologies, including digital tools, while considering the latest scientific achievements in medicine. Additionally, the programme fosters scientific research skills
  • A comprehensive English language course enables graduates to attain a high level of proficiency
  • The educational programme takes into account the professional standards and desired skills of graduates based on employers’ feedback

Our advantages

Around twenty departments are involved in training pharmacists at SPbU. These departments cover a range of subjects, including humanities, socio-economics, natural sciences, biomedical sciences, and professional and special disciplines. Additionally, students can choose from a variety of elective courses.

The educational programme ’Pharmacy’ at SPbU utilises:

  • a unified electronic information and educational environment for educational, scientific, and expert activities. This environment provides students and staff with access to SPbU’s information and educational resources
  •  e-learning, distance learning and modern digital educational technologies, including SPbU online courses According to the SPbU established policy, students are able to transfer credits for online courses from other educational institutions
  • The educational process adheres to the educational programme and the calendar plan within a unified university cultural and educational environment. This environment is supported by scientific, educational, and intellectual resources, as well as modern educational and communication technologies

The SPbU provides the material, technical, pedagogical, methodological and other conditions for the implementation of the educational programme in accordance with the established procedure and the resources of the partner organisations.

The needs of students with disabilities are taken into consideration, including their physical and mental development, individual abilities, and health condition.

The educational programme is led by prominent scientists, alongside young researchers and acknowledged industry practitioners. The faculty also hosts educators from all over the globe The qualifications of the faculty are evaluated based on their accomplishments in scientific, pedagogical, and professional work.

Career opportunities
  • The types of professional activities for graduates include: pharmacist (working in health care, pharmacies, or pharmaceutical production), organizational and managerial (working in health care, pharmacies, or pharmaceutical production), and pedagogical (teaching and research)
  • The practical skills, taught in accordance with international standards and domestic traditions of higher pharmaceutical education, are consolidated during annual internships in specialised laboratories of JSC Petersburg Pharmacies and pharmaceutical companies with production branches based in St Petersburg
