Our advantages

The programme trains healthcare professionals in the field of dermatovenerology who possess and are able to use modern innovative technologies in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of dermatological diseases and sexually transmitted diseases.

The programme makes extensive use of active and interactive forms of teaching (computer simulations, business and role-playing games, case studies, psychological and other training) in combination with extracurricular activities in order to form and develop students’ professional skills. Academic courses include meetings with representatives of Russian and foreign companies, government and public organisations, master classes with experts and specialists.

Practical work is carried out in various dermatology and venereology departments of hospitals and dermatology clinics under the direct supervision of a member or head of department. In order to combine related specialisations, training may be based on the relevant university departments.

Certain narrow practical and technical aspects of the specialty (e.g. mycology, laboratory diagnostics, etc.) may be taught separately by clinical specialists who are deeply involved in these matters.

There are regular city-wide inter-university meetings and field clinical sessions in leading St Petersburg clinics, and a student academic group on dermatovenerology is organised online with over 1,200 participants. Interns are actively involved in independent scientific research. Graduates are prepared for preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitative, psychological, educational, organisational and managerial activities.
