As part of the Forum held in Vladivostok, a panel session entitled "Economic cooperation between Russia, India, and China in the BRICS and RIC formats in the Eurasian space: synergy and balancing interests" organised by St Petersburg University was held.

The University was represented at the session by Sergey Andryushin, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of St Petersburg University, and Professor Stanislav Tkachenko, Head of the master’s programme "Diplomacy of the Russian Federation and Foreign States".

The discussion was also attended by the heads of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, the Russian Direct Investment Fund, the EAEU Business Council and academics from Russia, India and China. The panel discussion in Vladivostok was a continuation of St Petersburg University’s activities within the framework of the Russia-India-China Trialogue.

This initiative, launched by our University in the spring of 2023, aims to explore the prospects of building a fair multipolar system of security, and economic and humanitarian cooperation on the Eurasian continent.

Sergey Andryushin, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of St Petersburg University

The main question of the discussion, to which each of the session participants presented their original answer, was formulated as follows: how interstate cooperation between the three largest Eurasian states leads to the construction of a post-global world in which the key players will be sovereign states united in a multipolar system on the basis of equal relations.

The prospects for the development of cooperation in the RIC format, including the discussion of cooperation within the framework of the Russia-India-China Trialogue, were presented at the Vladivostok session by the St Petersburg University’s partners in the Trialogue: Srikanth Kondapalli, Dean of the School of International Studies and Professor of Chinese Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University (India); and Professor Huang Yunsong, Deputy Dean of the School of International Studies at Sichuan University (China).
