Mastering Russian: SPbU’s General Course for international applicants

Saint Petersburg University launches a unique Russian language programme designed for foreigners of all proficiency levels, from beginners (A1) to advanced learners (C1). Combining the rich traditions of teaching Russian as a foreign language with modern communicative methods, this programme ensures exceptional results for its participants.

SPbU is renowned for its long-standing tradition of teaching Russian with expert educators and a streamlined curriculum. The teachers are native speakers with extensive experience in teaching Russian as a foreign language. SPbU’s General Course of Russian language is one of the best pathways to prepare for main degree programmes, applicants have an opportunity to join the programme at any time of the year.

General Course of Russian language consists of 19 modules, each lasting 4 weeks (80 academic hours of classes + 4 hours of testing). Our comprehensive language training focuses on all key aspects of language learning, including grammar, listening, reading, speaking, writing, and a unique academic style of speech.

Discover more about our other Russian language programmes.

The academic style of speech prepares students for specialized language use in three fields:

  • Scientific (physics and mathematics)
  • Medical (chemistry and biology)
  • Humanitarian (history, philology, and cultural studies)

Take the first step toward mastering the Russian language and unlocking new academic and professional opportunities. For more information about this course, visit SPbU’s official website or contact the Center of Additional Educational Programmes directly via rlci@spbu.ru.
