Doing Business with Russia

Course description

The programme trains international participants in academic approaches, applied methods, and modern technologies for conducting business in Russia. It is based on a unique educational programme that combines advanced data analysis techniques, which characterise the main parameters of the Russian economy as a subject of the global economy, and business design technologies in Russia under the new global economic order. Participants will gain knowledge about the Russian business environment, the country’s economy, and Russian culture from leading professors at St. Petersburg State University in a full-time format.

The programme is designed for international students and business professionals whose responsibilities include managing business communications with Russian counterparts. Classes are conducted in English.

  • The basics of budgetary and tax regulation in the Russian Federation
  • The state and dynamics of key labour statistics
  • Labour market regulation mechanisms
  • Concepts of sustainable development and the basic principles of the ESG approach
  • Legal aspects of regulating foreign economic activity in Russia
  • Features of financial and managerial accounting in Russian international companies
  • Approaches to transport and logistics support for foreign economic activity in Russia
  • Principles of Russian business culture
  • Characteristics of the development of Russia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem
  • Russia’s role in international trade and global capital movements
  • Forms of business partnerships between Russia and EAEU, BRICS+, China, ASEAN, and North African and Middle Eastern countries

  • Navigate the system of regulatory and methodological documents governing the budgetary and tax system of the Russian Federation
  • Identify relevant taxes, fees, and special tax regimes for specific activities
  • Find key labour statistics and characterise the state of labour market institutions

  • Apply approaches to transport and logistics support for foreign economic activity in Russia
