Honouring the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War

Marking 80 years since Victory in the Great Patriotic War, St Petersburg University will hold memorial events to honour the Soviet peoples defence of their homeland and ensure this pivotal historical period is never forgotten.
6 May
- 12.30 pm (3 Ulianovskaya Street, Peterhof) Commemorative Ceremony at the ‘To the 1941-1945 University Community‘ monument with a performance by the female vocal ensemble ’Camellia‘, followed by the theatre show ‘We Lived, Loved, and Fought’ presented by the SPbU Theatre Studio.
- 1 pm (3 Ulianovskaya Street) The commemorative flower-laying ceremony will take place at the ’To the 1941-1945 University Community‘ monument. Following the ceremony, university students and staff will perform wartime songs and ’Victory Waltz" dance. All guests are welcome to enjoy field kitchen meals during the event. - 7.30 pm (St Petersburg, 7-9-11 A Universiteteskaya Embankment, Assembly Hall of Twelve Collegia Building) The St Petersburg University Choir, under the direction of Artistic Director and Conductor Eduard Krotman, as well as Choir Master Anna Kuznetsova, will perform a concert that will immerse the audience in an atmosphere of history and remembrance. The audience will hear the melodies of the war years accompanied by the Russian Folk Instruments Orchestra led by Honoured Cultural Worker of the Russian Federation Aleksei Dolgov. The evening will also feature performances by international competitions laureate Nikita Mordovskikh and Honoured Artist of the Republic of Karelia Oleg Palkin.

- 12.00 pm (St Petersburg, 7-9-11 A Universiteteskaya Embankment courtyard) Wreath-laying commemorative ceremony at ‘To the Immortal Fallen’ stele
