A student delegation from St Petersburg University has visited the Belarusian-Russian Centre for Modern Educational Technologies at the International University ‘MITSO’, as part of their trip to the Republic of Belarus. The students visited places related to the events of World War II and took part in the round table ‘Young people for the preservation of historical truth’ dedicated to the anniversary of Victory in World War II.
The delegation included students of various fields of study, including future lawyers, historians, and psychologists. The students visited the most significant historical and memorable places of Belarus, such as the Brest Fortress, the Khatyn national state memorial, as well as the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War History, located in Minsk.
Students of St Petersburg University and the International University ‘MITSO’ also took part in a dialogue dedicated to preserving the historical memory of World War II.
Elena Karpinskaya Sakovich, Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Activities at the International University ‘MITSO’, addressed the participants in the meeting. ‘The participation of students in the development of patriotic projects, your desire to study reliable facts about the events of World War II, to take an active part in preserving historical memory and the truth about the genocide of the Soviet people is a vivid confirmation that no one will be forgotten and nothing will be forgotten. It is a living testimony to the unity and brotherhood of our peoples,’ Elena Karpinskaya Sakovich stressed.
Students of the International University ‘MITSO’ shared their experience of working to preserve historical truth and discussed projects that commemorate the heroic deeds of the Soviet people in their fight against fascism. The speakers particularly focused on the topic of the genocide perpetrated against the Soviet people during World War II. The participants in the meeting noted that each speech was infused with a sense of pride and gratitude towards the victorious heroes for their feats in the name of peace on earth. There was also a shared confidence that maintaining ties between universities in both countries would foster the development of youth initiatives and strengthen the national unity of fraternal peoples.
At the end of the round table discussion, a guided tour of MITSO University was organised for representatives of St Petersburg University. During this tour, the young people visited the forensic training ground, the occupational safety centre, and the educational laboratory of modern identification technologies.
