The third season of Grand Plein Air at the Benoit Villas Art Residence
The St Petersburg University Representative Office in Spain cordially invites you to a virtual tour of the exhibition showcasing the works of the third season of Grand Plein Air at the Benoit Villas Art Residence. The exhibition is currently held at the Lomonosov Town Museum of the Local History, which is located in a mansion built in the Art Nouveau style of the late 19th to early 20th centuries. The exhibition features paintings created by professional artists and talented art students from SPbU. The artworks were produced between spring 2023 and the end of winter 2024. The artists portrayed the landscapes and architecture of the neighbourhood along the Peterhof road, which connects St Petersburg and Oranienbaum.
The Peterhof Road is a unique combination of imperial residences, private houses, gardens, and parks, featuring buildings of various styles and periods. Peter the Great planned for the plots with estates to become a grand architectural ensemble, surpassing the beauty of the road from Paris to Versailles.
The painters paid special attention to the former village of Bobylskaya, which included the dachas of Benois, Grube, and Kron, situated on the shore of the Gulf of Finland. The exhibition also presents Sergievka estate, which includes the palace of the Duke of Leuchtenberg. The estate features a mysterious English (Chinese) house, bridges, a pond, and waterfalls of the Kristatelka River.
Join us on 14 May for a virtual journey through the world of art and admire exquisite images of ancient architecture captured in the paintings of talented artists.
