Our advantages

The programme provides for extensive use of active and interactive forms of training (patient case studies, seminars, case studies of specific clinical situations, ward rounds with the head of the department) in combination with extracurricular activities in order to form and develop the students’ professional skills. Academic courses include meetings with representatives of Russian and foreign companies, government and public organisations, master classes with experts and specialists.

The programme covers a wide range of disciplines to train a specialist in infectious diseases. Particular attention is paid to the development of practical skills and clinical reasoning. The residency is based at the Botkin Clinical Hospital for Infectious Diseases, where students work in a variety of departments, including the outpatient clinic, and acquire skills in the management of patients with infectious diseases on an inpatient and outpatient basis.

During training, residents are encouraged to participate in the scientific work of the department; residents actively attend quarterly conferences organised by the department. Students can join the Student Scientific Society for Infectious Diseases, organised by the Department of Infectious Diseases, Epidemiology and Dermatovenerology, where modern aspects of infectious diseases are discussed.

Graduates are prepared for preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitative, psychological, educational, organisational and managerial activities.
