Signing up for new online courses of St Petersburg University starts on the Open edX platform

Original courses have been designed by St Petersburg University lecturers – experienced practitioners. To have free access to resources, it is necessary to register on the Open edX educational platform and sign up for a course of interest.

The University offers a wide range of new interactive courses that can be useful for both beginners and those who already have some experience. They cover disciplines related to: mathematics and information technology; economics and business processes; management; advertising and PR; SEO tools; graphic design; and other areas. Among them are:

  • Start-ups in Open Innovations

Nowadays, start-ups are an important component of the economy and business. There is considerable interest in a competent understanding of such projects. This course focuses on the development of start-ups in the current context of globalisation, crowdsourcing, and the development of open sources. It can be the early stage for studying the topic, and it can also complement knowledge of training programmes for specialists in innovation.

  • Commercialisation of Intellectual Property

Students will acquire basic knowledge in patent law and innovation management. During the training, they will develop the necessary competencies in legal regulation of relations arising from the commercialisation of intellectual property in the implementation of innovative projects.

  • Practice in Digital Transformations

Online classes provide materials on the classification and content of indicators for business processes of various company resources for digitalisation. During the training, students will master the skills to conduct infological and information modelling of digital transformation business processes. It should be noted that this course, as well as ‘Start-ups in Open Innovations’ and ‘Commercialisation of Intellectual Property’ have been designed by St Petersburg University together with Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University ‘LETI’.

  • Digital Business Transformation

Digital transformation affects not only certain aspects of business but also its processes. It leads to the emergence of new staff competencies, and changes the traditional business model of the company. The course participants will study a wide range of issues related to this area: from processes and strategies of digital transformation to digital twins.

  • Psychological Technologies of Working with Personnel

The programme is based on three thematic units: technology of motivational management, technology of diagnosis and optimisation of corporate culture; and technology of corporate loyalty. Students will learn the current rules for working with personnel within an organisation. They will also be able to analyse the content and the most important areas, models and methods. The training will be useful to everyone who is interested in management psychology and organisational psychology, as well as to students or graduates of bachelor’s and master’s programmes in these areas.

  • Website Promotion

This course is primarily designed for fledgling specialists in public relations and advertising, because nowadays to be mobile is a must for them. This includes the skills to create, develop, promote and evaluate the performance of corporate websites. It is based on practical aspects of using telecommunications and computer technologies in advertising and PR.

  • Introduction to Website Data Analysis

The course participants will study all of the stages of solving data analysis problems. It starts from simple mathematical objects necessary for analysing the course. At the end of the programme, they will acquire methods for using the studied tools in real life. Students will learn how to do analytical research in Microsoft Excel; will know the basic principles of probability theory; and will acquire the basic mathematical nomenclature for data analysis.

  • Web Design

How to design your website and make it unique? How to choose competent ways to design and implement an artistic image in a web environment? These questions will be addressed in this course devoted to web design technologies from start to finish. It will be useful to students who have an artistic background.

  • WordPress Web Design

The course is designed for novice web developers and deals with the most popular content management system in the world. Students will have real-world tasks to create themes for WordPress based on a ready layout of the main page of the website with an emphasis on the most important issues of web design. During the training, students will complete a substantial creative task and get a unique project that they will be able to use in their portfolio.

The priority of interactive classes is in an individual schedule and accessibility. It will take two to five hours a week to master each course. This format will make it possible for a participant to immerse in the educational environment and to acquire new knowledge and skills outside the classroom; without interruption from full-time studies or work.

St Petersburg University courses meet the requirements for learning outcomes in academic programmes implemented in higher education institutions. Therefore, for those who want to have the course credited at their university, it is possible to obtain certificates. Check for updates on the Open edX project website – 130 different online University’s courses are presented there.
