St Petersburg University implements 11 joint academic programmes with partner organisations
St Petersburg University, together with Russian and foreign educational organisations, as well as industrial partners and scientific organisations, implements 11 joint academic programmes.
According to this procedure for cooperation, the universities interact as following: one university acts as a base organisation that admits applicants to an academic programme, awards scholarships, and conducts state final assessments; while the second university acts as a participant that implements online part of an academic programme, providing material, educational, methodological, research, and teaching assistance.
Joint academic programmes are designed to expand the resource base for training experts who are capable of applying fundamental knowledge of the natural sciences, humanities and social sciences in accordance with the requirements of the state-of-the-art level of technology, equipment, science and the information field. During their studies, students are involved in practical scientific work, conducting their own research and demonstrating their results in various international projects. This helps them to continue their research activities in both Russian and foreign companies upon graduation.
Also, joint academic programmes may be implemented in the format of double diplomas, subject to joint participation in the development of the academic programme and joint final assessment of students in the academic programme.
Since 2022, the following joint academic programmes have been implemented according to this procedure:
- Medicinal Chemistry − Sirius University of Science and Technology
- Petroleum Engineering − Perm National Research Polytechnic University
- Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Technologies − Tula State Lev Tolstoy Pedagogical University
- Mathematics and Applied Mathematics − Harbin Institute of Technology (China)
- Applied Physics − Harbin Institute of Technology (China)
- Chemistry and Applied Chemistry − Harbin Institute of Technology (China)
- Biology: Bioengineering Technologies − Biocad
- Psychological Support of Professional Activity — North Caucasus Federal University
- Russian Language and Literature — L N Gumilyov Eurasian National University (Kazakhstan)
- Sociology — Sevastopol State University
- History — Mariupol State University
The policy of developing joint educational activities enables St Petersburg University to make its educational environment open and accessible for use throughout the Russian Federation.
It is not necessary for base organisations to increase the costs of establishing their own high-tech resource base. They can use the capabilities of a partner university (St Petersburg University). In turn, St Petersburg University may increase the efficiency of using its own resource base (the Research Park, the Centre of E-Learning Development, and the Language Testing Centre).
The University’s partners are universities that are: recognised leaders in the profession-specific programmes developed and have the advanced necessary educational potential; leading regional universities; organisations that are potential employers; and partners of St Petersburg University where students can do internships and be involved in research together with the University staff.
