Programme description
  • The bachelor’s programme ‘Law’ combines the traditions of classical legal education of the oldest university in Russia with unique innovative university developments and methods in legal education. The programme includes relevant courses that reflect current trends in the legal services market and meet the requirements of employers in this area. In addition to fundamental theoretical training, students acquire skills in interpreting norms of Russian law and applying Russian legislation to specific practical situations
  • The use of an information telecommunication environment enables students to access learning materials online and make use of a wealth of electronic library resources
  • The programme is aimed at training lawyers who are competitive both in the Russian and international labour markets. They are equipped with the necessary professional skills and can work in public service, at judicial institutions and law firms. They can also work as corporate lawyers and render legal support services to businesses

  • Operational excellence of teachers and the results of their research activities are recognised by the scientific community
  • The teaching staff includes: practicing lawyers; judges of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation; leading public service specialists; and representatives of the legal business. This makes it possible for students to study not only the theoretical foundations of the profession, but also acquire information on legal practice in the legal sector
  • In order to improve the activities of St Petersburg University aimed at implementing degree programmes, this programme is implemented with the support of the Council of the bachelor’s programme in Law
  • Practical training is held at the Legal Clinic of St Petersburg University
  • Graduates of the bachelor’s programmes speak English at a level of proficiency comparable to the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
  • Students gain access to the branch department of the M. Gorky Scientific Library, which contains unique editions of the 16th – 19th centuries and contemporary Russian and foreign literature on pressing issues of legal science
  • In accordance with the established educational standard for persons with higher professional education, individual curricula are developed following the results of teaching methodology expertise. These individual curricula are based on the curriculum of the current bachelor's programme in Law and take into account previous learning outcomes
  • The use of eLearning – an information telecommunication environment – makes it possible for students to: access educational materials (lecture notes, presentations and video recordings of lectures, syllabi of the courses studied) online; take part in webinars; and use electronic library resources

The programme has been internationally accredited by: the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) as part of the institutional accreditation of the Faculty of Law, the Certificate dated 26 February 2021; and the Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance and Career Development (AKKORK), the Certificate dated 28 January 2021.
