Programme description

The programme is designed to prepare qualified personnel with a broad profile in the fields of intercultural and interlingual communication, translation, teaching of Slavic languages, including Russian as a foreign language to speakers of related Slavic languages.

Graduates receive a thorough general philological, linguistic and pedagogical education in the spirit of the carefully preserved traditions of the St. Petersburg School of Linguistics, which will enable them either to continue their studies in their chosen field or to successfully perform professional tasks Graduates will have an excellent command of several foreign languages, extensive knowledge of the culture of the respective languages and regions, and will know how to teach Russian as a foreign language to speakers of related Slavic languages.

Graduates of the programme will be able to apply their knowledge in the following fields: teaching in various educational institutions, translation work, editorial work in publishing houses, museum work, library science and other fields of the humanities.
