Programme description

The undergraduate’s programme "Scandinavian Languages and Literatures (Swedish and Norwegian Languages)" with additional qualifications "Teacher of foreign language and literature"/"Translator/Interpreter" is designed to prepare versatile specialists in the fields of intercultural and interlinguistic communication, translation, teaching the Norwegian or Swedish language and the history of Scandinavian literature.

Students of the programme will receive a comprehensive philological and linguistic education kept in line with the carefully preserved traditions of St Petersburg Linguistic School. Foundation laid by the programme enables students not only to pursue further education in the chosen field but also to successfully tackle professional challenges across various domains.

Graduates will achieve proficiency in several foreign languages, acquire extensive knowledge of the cultures associated with studied languages and regions, and develop deep linguistic and general humanities expertise. A main focus of the programme is the cultivation of professional competencies through diverse practical training, that fostering professional skills development from an early stage of study.

Upon completing the programme graduates will be awarded three diplomas of St Petersburg University: a higher education diploma and professional retraining diplomas ("Teacher of foreign language and literature" and "Translator/Interpreter").
