The official part of the initiation ceremony starts at 11:50 am on the Academician Sakharov Square. The traditional midday firing of the Naryshkin’s cannon from the bastion of Peter and Paul Fortress and state anthem of the Russian Federation performed by the SPbU Choir will herald the beginning of the grand ceremony.
During the matriculation ceremony, the Rector of St Petersburg University Nikolay Kropachev and distinguished guests will congratulate the students and officially announce the start of the new academic year. The best school graduates enrolled in the first year will receive student ID cards from the hands of Nikolay Kropachev and distinguished guests. After student ID cards will be solemnly given, freshmen will swear an oath of the University student.
Students and staff of the University will have an opportunity to set paper "Ships of Hope" afloat in online format.
SPbU will provide bus shuttles from Peterhof to St. Petersburg for first-year students. Buses will be available to ferry students to the matriculation ceremony at 64 Botanicheskaya street at 9:00 am, 9:15 am, 9:30 am.
