Programme description
- The bachelor's programme ‘International Journalism’ is unique and designed to train international journalists who are capable of creating and producing content in Russian and English for print, audiovisual and new media in a wide range of topics
- During training, students acquire knowledge and skills in the techniques of working in different types of media. Much attention is also paid to the study of global media space and foreign media systems
- The bachelor's programme ‘International Journalism’ will be of interest to Russian applicants with a good command of at least one foreign language, who: have a good understanding of the economy, policy, history and culture of other countries; and want to pursue a career in journalism and international media. This programme is also relevant for international applicants who would like to master skills as journalists and editors specialising in creating and distributing content about Russia and post-Soviet countries

- The programme takes into account the latest trends in the modern educational environment. During the development of the curriculum, similar programmes of the world's top schools of journalism were benchmarked: the University of Missouri (the USA); Shanghai University (China); Freie Universität Berlin (Germany), City, University of London (Great Britain); MGIMO University (Russia); and others.
- The programme maintains a balance of theory and practice, and science and applied professional activity. Among the teaching staff of the programme are: high calibre faculty of St Petersburg University and foreign universities; teacher-practitioners; and representatives of the Russian and foreign media communities.
- Representatives of the Russian News Agency TASS and the International Television and Radio Company MIR took part in the development of the programme.
- The academic programme is unique in that it provides simultaneous majors in such areas of professional development as ‘creativity and technology’ and ‘analysis and management’. Along with the competencies that make it possible to conduct activities in international journalism, graduates have an opportunity to receive much deeper knowledge and skills in practical journalism, or in research.
- There is an opportunity to master the skills of working with international information in commerce and public administration. Much attention is paid to: the features of work in the context of mass media transformation; and journalism under the influence of new information technology.
