The bachelor’s programme "Islamic Studies" is aimed at developing in students a holistic understanding of Islam as an ideology based on a set of knowledge of: history; dogma; religion; philosophy; material and spiritual culture; ethics; law; the economic system; modern socio-political development; regional and ethnic differences; and modern reform trends. Students also study in depth classical and modern standard literary Arabic.

The programme trains experts with the requisite professional skills, including cultural and linguistic ones corresponding to their major. Graduates are ready to conduct research, educational teaching, and organisational and managerial activities in the field of the language, history, and culture of Islam. The programme provides assistance in: strengthening Russian identity; preservation and development of ethnocultural and religious diversity of the peoples of Russia; and civic culture of communication.
