My name is Abdoulahi Ibrahima Sahabi, I was born on in 1991, in Arlit-Niger, I am Nigerian by nationality. I obtained my baccalaureate in 2014. Afterwards, I passed the entrance examinations to the Higher Institute of Mining, Industry and Geology (EMIG) in Niamey, Niger, for a 3-year training course in industrial automation. I continued my training at the Higher School of Electricity, Building and Public Works (ESEBAT) in Dakar, Senegal, on the Electromechanical and Automated Systems programme. After graduation I went to Accra to learn English; I am passionate about science and in my spare time I like to read novels and sometimes watch football on TV.
I found out about St Petersburg University thanks to a publication by the Nigerian Agency for Grants and Scholarships. I decided to study Russian because it is a language that is very close to my heart; speaking a foreign language like Russian increases professional opportunities, helps to establish a real connection with native speakers of this language. At the moment my country has ambitions to work with Russian companies and this will be an opportunity for us to integrate their companies.
I also choose the St Petersburg University course because SPbU is one of the best universities in Russia.
I felt we were receiving a high quality education, the learning process was well defined and well structured; I really liked our lessons. Our teacher gave us love and courage to learn Russian, all with better learning methods. The course contents were: Writing, Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading, Comprehension, and Listening. The course has definitely met our expectations. Today we have a strong foundation in the Russian language.
The main problem I had when learning was the pronunciation of certain words. I overcame this by repeatedly listening to the audio recordings sent by the teacher and repeating the words in class.
If the opportunity arises, I would like to continue studying Russian to a C1 level; I am currently following a Russian course on YouTube.
