- This programme is unique in that it combines legal courses (delivered by an expert in legal studies) with courses in translation and interpreting (delivered only by professional translators and interpreters). This provides universal and comprehensive training of graduates specifically in the field of legal translation. The programme is practice oriented, which makes it possible in two years to prepare specialists in a specific field of translation who will have subject and translation skills
The mission of this academic programme is to prepare graduates who:
- are ready to conduct practical translation activities in the legal field. They will have translation and interpreting skills and know the differences in legal systems, and methods of overcoming these differences
- are ready for organisational and managerial activities in the translation market using state-of-the-art technologies
- are specialists capable of contributing to the development of the enterprise and the establishment of economic relations with foreign companies for the purpose of market development
- are able to self-improve their skills, and possess the necessary adaptability
- have skills in project activities
- have competencies in the effective search, analysis and processing of information in this area
- are able to work in an environment where it is necessary to deepen their knowledge and develop their skills to perform various functions. These include: setting and researching tasks; developing solutions and their implementation; and working as a team member

- Expert analysis, commenting, abstracting and summarising of the research findings conducted by other experts, using modern techniques and methodologies, and advanced domestic and foreign experience
- Participation in the work of research teams conducting research into a wide range of linguistic issues, preparation and editing of scientific publications
- Teaching activities: conducting practical classes in translation disciplines in higher education institutions; preparation of teaching materials for some translation subjects
- Project activities: development of a wide range of projects related to the organisation of interlingual and intercultural interaction with partners
- Expert advisory activities: carrying out expert work and advising a wide range of people on the organisation and implementation of interlingual and intercultural interaction between Russian-speaking and English-speaking partners

- Translation and interpreting activities: various types of translation in the legal sphere (in-house translation); and translation and intermediary activities in Russian and international judicial bodies
