Programme description

The undergraduate degree programme in Thai Philology (with Thai and Burmese language training) (with the additional qualification «Specialist in the field of translation») provides students with a holistic understanding of the linguistic, cultural, political, economic, social, ethnic, confessional, literary, and other characteristics of the region, with a parallel and comprehensive study of the Thai and Burmese languages
The educational programme is designed for applicants who wish to build a successful career in various departments of Russian and international companies cooperating with the Kingdom of Thailand
In addition, graduates of the programme will be awarded the qualification of «Specialist in the field of translation»

The Gorky Scientific Library has a collection of more than 300,000 volumes of scientific, educational and periodical literature, as well as fiction in all languages of the regions studied, a collection of old manuscripts and woodcuts, rare and unique books and lithographs
Graduates can apply to Master’s programmes at the SPbU Faculty of Oriental Studies and to other Russian and foreign universities
