Goals and values of personalised education
St Petersburg University and its Representative Office in Barcelona invite you to the online lecture "Goals and values of personalised education". It is part of the new lecture series ‘How to teach and learn in the 21st century’. The lecture will be delivered by Elena Kazakova, Doctor of Pedagogy.
Much more is now known about how the brain works and how different factors influence learning performance. Additionally, we have a bank of technologies that are capable of incorporating the findings of multi-year research in practice and on a massive scale.
A personalised model of education is designed "from the result": we select those elements of the model and technologies of its construction that are capable of solving the set tasks effectively. Personalised education results in the development of the student’s personality.
Personalised education implies a greater degree of autonomy for students: they need to make informed choices, work individually or in a group without direct guidance from the teacher. It also requires strong self-discipline, the ability to interact, experience of self-motivation and motivation of others.
A personalised education model implies that students will have more freedom. Children quickly get used to the new environment, but this does not happen by itself, it takes preparation. The development of a learning culture goes through several stages, which we will talk about in detail during our first meeting.
