Guided tours for first-year students at St Petersburg University
On the day of the Matriculation Ceremony for first-year students at St Petersburg University, free guided tours will be held for new University students to introduce St Petersburg University, its history, traditions and outstanding researchers, scientists and scholars.
The first-year students will walk through the courtyards of the University and visit the Modern Sculpture Park, which has already become a city landmark to feature not only monuments to researchers, public figures and poets, but even literary characters. The University students will walk through the famous Twelve Collegia building and hear a story about the history of one of the longest university corridors in the world.
St Petersburg University students will also be able to visit the Dmitri Mendeleev Museum and Archives, where the world-renowned chemist lived and worked. It was at the University that he discovered the Periodic Law, wrote The Principles of Chemistry, and prepared his works on the physics of gases, economics, and industry. For reference: in 2024, the University celebrates the 190th anniversary of Dmitri Mendeleev.

- 1.30pm; 3pm — sightseeing tours of the Modern Sculpture Park, the Vasileostrovsky Campus and the corridor of the Twelve Collegia building by Anna Lavrina and Kseniia Krutko, who are the guides of the St Petersburg University History Museum
