The Russia — Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum
St Petersburg University is going to take part in the Russia — Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, a major event dedicated to the collaboration between Russia and the countries of the African continent.
On 27 July (from 11am to 12.15pm), there will be a round table entitled "Artificial Intelligence: The New Driver for the Development of the African Region". At this symposium, experts in the fields of economics, philology, international relations and political science will discuss how state-of-the-art technologies based on artificial intelligence can contribute to Africa’s rapid development.
From 12.30 pm to 1.50 pm, the Forum will host another round table devoted to the development of economic relations between Russia and Africa in the new geopolitical environment. The discussion will be moderated by Dr Karin Kneissl and Viktor Titov. At one time Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria, Dr Kneissl is now an energy analyst and lecturer at the University. Mr Titov is Senior Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Economics at St Petersburg University and Deputy Head of the GORKI Centre.
From 2 pm to 3.20pm, there will be an expert session entitled "Russia, the Forge of Young Professionals, Scholars and Experts. Professional Reserve: Russia — Africa". Among the participants will be Dmitry Ptyushkin, Director of the Language Testing Centre at St Petersburg University, and Valens Maniragena, Chairman of the charity society ICHUMBI and a lecturer at the University.
The Economic and Humanitarian Forum is being held on 27-28 July in St Petersburg as part of the Second Russia — Africa Summit. As the organisers note, this is a unique event in the development of Russia’s relations with the countries of the African continent. It is designed to determine the course of Russian-African collaboration and its development over the long term. The Forum will host numerous events as part of the business programme: plenary sessions, discussions, business meetings, and debates. There will also be a large-scale exhibition which will demonstrate scholarly, educational and economic achievements aimed at developing Russian-African relations.
As part of the exhibition, the University will present the projects of two winners of SPbU Start-up, a competition of interdisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate projects. The first is Terroir Concept, a geoinformation system for vineyards and winemakers. The second one, Lingvera, is an aggregator app in which foreigners and people with hearing problems will be able to find experts in interpreting, translation, and sign language interpreting.
