A Theatrical Novel by M. Bulgakov

St Petersburg University will stage a play A Theatrical Novel, which portrays hard life path of Mikhail Bulgakov as a playwright.
The play is based on Bulgakov’s autobiographical novel of the same name. It was written in 1936 after he left the Moscow Art Theatre (MAT), where he had worked since 1930. The events in the play take place when M.Bulgakov was writing the novel The White Guard and the play The Days of the Turbins was staging at the MAT.
The play incorporates letters by Konstantin Stanislavsky, Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko, and Mikhail Bulgakov, as well as Viktor Losev’s commentary on Theatrical Novel.
