Career Week at the Graduate School of Management of St Petersburg University: results and best online lectures
The 10th anniversary season of the Management Career Week 2022: Spring has ended. Over 500 students met with experts during 14 themed events; 25 companies supported the Career Week; and the organisers successfully tested three completely new formats of interaction with partners.
Elizaveta Troianova, Director of the Career Centre of the Graduate School of Management, spoke about this year’s innovations: ‘One of the week’s key events is the traditional meeting with representatives of partner companies. This year, we divided the usual HR event into two online events: "Career Chat" with recruiters; and an interactive discussion "Your start: start-up or corporation" between founders of start-ups and representatives of corporations. "Career Chat" enabled students to go from searching for vacancies to successfully adapting to a new place step by step. The participants were able to get exhaustive answers about building a successful career in a large company and the first steps towards their own business,’ Elizaveta Troianova explained.
This year, the organisers of the career week had an ambitious task of instilling confidence in students regarding their future: the opportunity to find an internship and start a career.
Most of the lectures were practical and contained specific advice. Alena Vladimirskaia, who manages her career laboratory, began her speech with these words: ‘When you graduate from a university, you find yourselves vulnerable. I am here to help you navigate and understand where you are needed.’ At the meeting ‘The job market is in tumult: a guide to surviving in a new reality’, the attendees learned about the competencies that will help them succeed in the job search.
Top managers of companies and experts held consultations not only for students of the Graduate School of Management but also for everyone who wished. Most of the meetings were held in an open format, and recordings were made for those who could not join.
The participants of the Career Week acknowledged the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, VTB Bank, PwC, "Ingria" Business Incubator, Bushe, L’Oréal, IQVIA, EY, BCS Financial Group and all other representatives of the business community who were able to take part in the event even in the conditions of economic turbulence and helped to maintain students’ positive mindset and desire to develop.
