Dipendra Prasad as head of the mega grant at SPbU

The 6th competition of the mega grants of the Government of the Russian Federation: winners announced. SPbU has won a mega grant to open the Mathematics Laboratory, with Dipendra Prasad as its head who is an Indian mathematician in automorphic representations and Langlands program.
In 1989, Dipendra Prasad was awarded PhD at Harvard and then has been working in a number of the world's leading research centres. He is a professor of mathematics at the School of Mathematics, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. In 2018, he was an invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians. At St Petersburg University, he is going to work in group theory, theory of motives, homological algebra, and algebraic geometry.
The project was initiated by Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor of the RAS, senior research fellow at SPbU Roman Mikhailov who developed a painstaking plan with his students.
Over a year we had been working on the project. We are happy to win and will open a laboratory.

“With Dipendra Prasad, there will be a new wave of algebraic research in Russia. Our project will incorporate brilliant scientists: Professor Rostislav Grigorchuk from the University of Taxas, Professor Tatiana Smirnova-Nagnibeda from the University of Geneva.
