Medical insurance for international students
In accordance with the requirements of the art. 27 of the Law, No. 114-FZ, voluntary health insurance (VHI) is one of the required documents that confirms a foreign citizen’s right to stay in Russian Federation.
Entry into the Russian Federation is not allowed if a foreign citizen or a stateless person has not submitted a health insurance policy valid in the Russian Federation prior to its submission to the International Student Center. A health insurance must be valid throughout the entire period of their stay in Russia.
Voluntary health insurance (VHI) grants the foreign citizen right to receive medical services in the region of temporary residence. According to the rules for the provision of medical care to foreign citizens on the territory of the Russian Federation, in cases representing a serious threat to the patient’s life medical care in an emergency form is provided to foreign citizens by medical organizations free of charge. After patients’ condition has stabilized, the further treatment is possible only if foreign citizen have a voluntary health insurance.
