Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus visited SPbU
The delegation of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus has met SPbU Deputy Rector for International Affairs Sergei Andrushin to discuss the opportunities for expanding collaboration between the oldest university in Russia and universities in Nicosia and Cyprus.
Collaboration with SPbU and Cyprus is an overarching priority for Cyprus, says the Permanent General of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus Egly Pantelakis.
Today, our priority is exchange programmes and long-term internship programmes for staff and students.

An important issue they discussed was how to make the programme in Modern Greek and Byzantine Philology more competitive and popular. They therefore opened educational councils for a bachelor programme in Modern Greek Language, Byzantine and Modern Greek Philology and a master prgramme in Classical, Byzantine and Modern Greek Philology, with Minister of Education and Culture Costas Kadis as Chairperson of the Councils.
The councils are given a wide range of responsibilities: from formulating entrance requirements to professional competences for the graduates, says Sergei Andrushin. “The councils comprise both members of the academic community and partner-employers to ensure that we educate and prepare our students to be competitive in the labour market”, — said Sergei Andrushin.
They have also agreed on collaborating in research, apart from exchange programmes for staff and students.
