A new online specialisation at St Petersburg University: ‘History of Russia’ in English for international students
St Petersburg University has launched the specialisation ‘History of Russia’ on the Coursera platform. Students will learn the most important facts of the history of the country between the 9th and 21st centuries.
The role of Russia in world history can hardly be overestimated. Many foreigners therefore take a special interest today in studying the history of our country, its formation and development. The courses are taught in English. Anyone interested in the specialisation can start studying.
The specialisation consists of three online courses which are dedicated to different historical periods. The first course includes the history of the state in the period from Ancient Rus’ to the Time of Troubles. The second one covers the period between the very beginning of the reign of the Romanov dynasty and the power shift during the October Revolution of 1917. Doing the third course, students will carry out an in-depth analysis of the history of the Soviet Union – in the period between the New Economic Policy (NEP) and perestroika. In the end, they will learn about contemporary events.
The specialisation will be of interest to everyone who is fascinated by the history of Russia or plans to systematise existing knowledge. You can sign up for the online specialisation courses on the University website.
The programme was developed by leading professors of St Petersburg University. Developing the programme, they took into account a problem solving approach to the scientific understanding of periods and eras in their historical relationship.
