Open lecture of Nobel Prize for Literature laureate Orhan Pamuk
On February 20, St. Petersburg State University will host an open lecture of one of the greatest classics of modern literature Orhan Pamuk. The Nobel laureate will come to St. Petersburg to accept an Honorary Doctorate Degree at Saint Petersburg State University.
Orhan Pamuk's lecture on Russian literature will be open to the public. The legendary author will speak about his latest novel The Red-Haired Woman, which was published in Russian in 2016, and will answer the readers' questions.
During his visit to the first university of Russia, Orhan Pamuk will accept the diploma and the gown of an Honorary Doctor of St. Petersburg State University. The writer will also give a collection of his books to SPbU Library and get acquainted with Turkic manuscripts housed in St. Petersburg State University.
Lecture begins at 6:30 p.m. (doors at 5:40 p.m.)

Background:
Orhan Pamuk is a contemporary Turkish writer and winner of many national and international literary awards, including the Nobel Prize for Literature (2006). In its citation, the Academy said: "In the quest for the melancholic soul of his native city, [Pamuk] has discovered new symbols for the clash and interlacing of cultures." The legendary writer is now popular not only in Turkey but also all over the world, as his works have been translated into more than seventy languages.
