SPbU in RUR by subjects
December 5, the Round University Ranking (RUR) by 6 subjects has been announced. St Petersburg University entered 5 rankings and improved its performance in most indicators.
The Russian agency Round University Ranking (RUR) has been publishing the world’s university rankings since 2010. The rankings evaluate the performance of more than 750 universities worldwide and are compiled using 20 metrics in four groups:
- Education quality
- Financial stability
- Internationalisation
- Research
The rankings uses the same criteria as the Times Higher Education rankings, which are approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. As the Times Higher Education Rankings are published earlier, SPbU did not provide any information about its performance and therefore did not feature in the RUR in 2016. This year, as the University resumed its collaboration with the agency, we can compare its performance in 2015 and in 2017.
In the RUR-2017, SPbU has improved its performance both in the world’s university rankings (up 12 places) and rankings by subjects. In the natural sciences, the University climbed 24 places, while in the humanities 21 places. Even more successful the University is in the life sciences (57 places up), social sciences (78 places up), and engineering sciences (184 places up).
Each ranking is compiled using 20 metrics in four groups: Education quality, Financial stability, Internationalisation, and Research. In Education quality, SPbU is among the world’s top 100 university in:
- Humanities (95 place)
- Life sciences (80 place)
- Natural sciences (68 place)
It lays aboard the top 100 in the engineering sciences (103 place).
In Financial stability, SPbU is also among the world’s top 100 universities in the humanities (85 place), while it is in the 101 place in the social sciences and 125 place in the natural sciences.
