St Petersburg International Economic Forum 2024: St Petersburg University and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs to collaborate on scientific research and software development
St Petersburg University and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs have signed a cooperation agreement within the framework of the 27th St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). The document was signed by Anastasia Yarmosh, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Partnership at St Petersburg University, and Alexander Shokhin, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
The partners will prepare and review by-laws in the field of software development, as well as conduct scientific and applied research. One of the objectives of the cooperation is to develop a platform for foreign economic activity, including cross-border settlements.
Anastasia Yarmosh, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Partnership at St Petersburg University, noted that the signing of the agreement was an important step in strengthening the partnership between the University and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. The agreement also contributes to the expansion of opportunities for both sides.
"Today, St Petersburg University actively conducts scientific activities and suggests modern solutions that contribute to the successful development of the Russian economy. This cooperation agreement with the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs is an important step towards our common goal of ensuring the technological sovereignty of the Russian State", Anastasia Yarmosh stressed.
In April, St Petersburg University signed an agreement with the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of St Petersburg.
One of the areas of cooperation between St Petersburg University and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs is work on a project to create a platform for confidential information and analytical interaction for foreign economic activity. The Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs platform for cross-border settlements already incorporates components of the decentralised interbank messaging system (DCMS). This system was developed at the Distributed Ledger Technologies Centre at St Petersburg University in 2022. Based on blockchain technology, it enables financial institutions, industrial enterprises, and groups of companies to conduct secure international money transfers seamlessly.

"We hope that the messaging technology developed by the Distributed Ledger Technologies Centre at St Petersburg University, upon which our platform for foreign economic activity is founded, will establish a new trusted business environment", said Alexander Shokhin, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
St Petersburg University currently houses the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, the Distributed Ledger Technologies Centre, and the Research and Education Centre "Mathematical Robotics and Artificial Intelligence". Experts from St Petersburg University are involved in blockchain research, intelligent management studies, mathematical and educational robotics, as well as the development of artificial intelligence platforms for various industries.
