St Petersburg University has successfully held Chinese language proficiency test
More than 200 people studying the Chinese language gathered at St Petersburg University to test their knowledge at the 29th test session of the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) examination.
Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi is an internationally recognised standard test to assess the Chinese language proficiency of non-native speakers.
Citizens of St Petersburg were not the only people who have taken the exam: a group of schoolchildren from Kaliningrad came to St Petersburg to undertake HSK 1 exam (basic level similar to the A1 level of the Test of Russian as a Foreign Language). Among 216 participants of the exam, 39 children have taken the Youth Chinese Test (YCT), the exam specifically designed for children under the age of 16.
‘St Petersburg University conducts language proficiency exams in 24 languages. We pay close attention to conducting of each testing session and respect applicants efforts’ in language learning. For this reason, day by day we strive to create the most comfortable conditions for testing of language proficiency,’ said Dmitry Ptyushkin, Director of the Language Testing Centre at St Petersburg University, ― ‘The feedback received from language proficiency test participants confirms the effectiveness of our work. Thus, the HSK spring test session of this year have attracted 2.5 times more candidates compared to previous test session. This is a significant indicator for us.’

The Director of the Language Testing Centre at St Petersburg University also noted that interest in HSK Speaking Test (HSKK) has increased significantly in recent years: during the held test session the number of candidates signed up for the HSK Oral Test has grown several times compared to the March test session.
