St Petersburg University invites students to take part in the International Competition for Literary Translation
St Petersburg University is proud to announce the start of the International Competition for Literary Translation of Alexander Pushkin’s works "Artis Litterae", organised by the University to mark the 225th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian poet. The competition for young literary scholars and translators will be held from 18 March to 20 June 2024.
The competition is open to bachelor’s, specialist’s, master’s, and doctoral students. Contestants are invited to submit their translation of Alexander Pushkin’s poetry and prose into a foreign language of their choice. They can apply for participation in two categories: "Translation of prose" and "Translation of poetry".
On 5 July 2021, President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a decree to celebrate the 225th anniversary of the birth of poet Alexander Pushkin in 2024. The plan of main events includes scholarly conferences dedicated to Pushkin’s works, festivals for schoolchildren and students, contests aimed at spreading knowledge about the poet’s heritage, and other events.
The International Competition for Literary Translation of Alexander Pushkin’s works "Artis Litterae" is a unique opportunity for students to express themselves creatively, demonstrate their skills and abilities, and participate in the cultural dialogue between nations.
